Creating Clusters on VMware vSphere
This section explains how to create a VMware vSphere workload cluster from the global cluster. The documented workflow assumes the standard CAPV deployment mode, in which the platform connects directly to vCenter and provisions virtual machines.
Recommended Reading Order
Use the documents in the following order:
- Parameter Checklist to collect the required values and validate external prerequisites.
- Create a Cluster in the
globalCluster to complete the baseline single-datacenter workflow. - Extension Scenarios to add a second NIC, multiple datacenters, failure domains, extra data disks, or more worker replicas.
Scope
The baseline workflow in this section is intentionally limited to a minimum supported topology:
- One datacenter
- One NIC per node
- Three control plane nodes
- One worker node
- Static IP allocation through
VSphereResourcePool
When you need a larger or more complex topology, first complete the baseline deployment and then apply the changes described in Extension Scenarios.
